Ma is the son of Chinese parents who were living in Paris when he was born in 1995. His studies of the cello began at the age of four with this father. When his family moved to New York City three years later, Ma studied at Juilliard School and then went on to Harvard to pursue a liberal arts education. Ma has recorded over 120 albums. His latest album is the second in a new series of recordings with violinist Leonidas Kavakos and pianist Emanuel Ax.
The concert will take place on Saturday August 3, beginning at 7:30pm.
