The university has just attained the financial accreditation required before it can start recruiting students. Dr. David Park, one of the founders of Montana College, expressed how delighted he was that the school’s plans were on track and commented:
“We are thrilled to receive the recent approval by the COCA to move forward with recruiting, interviewing, and matriculating students at Rocky Vista University’s Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine. The process of accreditation is rigorous and requires an entire team’s knowledge, experience and expertise.”
The building that will house the school has 135,000 square feet of space and is located on a campus of 12.8 acres. Construction is expected to be completed by December and staff will start working there in January, at which point they can update their Business Cards. Classes are expected to start six months after.
According to Steve Arveschoug, a director at Big Sky Economic Development, Montana has a major need for more physicians. He was one of the leading advocates who pushed to have Rocky Vista set up in Billings. The new school is expected to have a direct economic impact in the area worth $78m. It will create about 350 jobs and increase the region’s tax collection numbers by $1.2m.
