St. Louis Post-Dispatch moving
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which has been operating in a building on North Tucker Boulevard for 60 years, is planning to move.
The paper recently announced it had signed an agreement with StarLake Holdings and will move to a new location directly across from the convention center, which is due to be renovated soon. The building on Tucker Street, which was built in 1931, comprises 235,000 square feet, while the building to which the paper will move has only 75,000 square feet.
The larger building is an “old fashioned” newspaper building that is partially a factory, since railroad tracks underground give access to deliver newsprint. The ground floor was filled with printing presses, until they were moved to Maryland Heights.
At the new location, the paper will occupy a total of 50,000 square feet spread over the second and third floors, areas that have been vacant for years. There will be approximately 20,000 square feet on the ground floor that could house another tenant, though there has been no discussion of what kind of company would be appropriate. Work has been ongoing since the beginning of the year to renovate the building for the Post-Dispatch.
The paper plans to take occupancy of the new premises on August 1 and hopes to finish moving in by the first of September. Companies like this will often need new business cards updated with their new address and contact details.
