Weavers Guild to organize conference in St. Louis

The Weavers’ Guild of St. Louis will host a multi-day event at Washington University in June.

The Midwest Weavers Conference is an event where guilds from across the country can gather and network with other weavers while attending presentations and exhibits. This year’s theme will be Celebrate YOUR Guild’s MAKERS – Past & Present. Many guilds will celebrate milestone anniversaries during the convention. The keynote speaker of the event is Margaret Roach Wheeler, who will give a presentation on the decades of a weaver’s life.

There will also be a fashion show and a judged members exhibit. Those who participate in these activities can win awards such as the Jeanette Bauer Award for Innovative Use of Color and the Elsie Bell Award for Hand Spinning. There will also be many new awards people can win this year, including the Helen Wenzel Memorial Award for Innovative Design and the Linda Nodiff Memorial Award for Handwoven Tapestry. The Guild Exhibit category will not be judged.

Guilds that organize similar group events to this may use brochure printing to make programs that include conference schedules and venue maps.

The Midwest Weavers Conference will be held from June 8th to June 15th. People can pay $650 to attend the pre-conference and conference, and those interested in only going to the convention can purchase tickets for $315.
