The preliminary round of the St. Louis Teen Talent competition will be taking place next month at Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood and Logan University in Chesterfield.
There will be 119 performers from the St. Louis metropolitan area, including St. Ann and southwestern Illinois, with talents such as singing, dancing, acting, and specialty acts that include juggling, acrobatics, and contortionists.
The producer and underwriter for the competition is the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation (FoxPACE). Such organizations often turn to poster printing to promote such special competitions and highlight the efforts of the students vying for participation.
Those who participate in the competition are competing for cash awards, $45,000 in college scholarships, prizes, and opportunities to perform. The first-place winner will receive an $8,000 scholarship, second place will receive a $6,000 scholarship, and the third-place winner will receive a $4,000 scholarship in the final round. Among the performance opportunities students have landed in previous years include the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis, National Dance Week, The Rising Stars Showcase, and the Bach Society.
From this preliminary round, 40 acts will be chosen to compete in the semi-finals in March followed by the final round at The Fox Theatre in St. Louis in April, which is free and opened to the public.
This competition will take place on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9.
