Credit union for African Americans opens in St. Ann

The African Diaspora Federal Credit Union is now open in St. Ann.

This is a financial institution for African Americans and immigrants from Africa, and is designed to help Black people from St. Louis and African communities strengthen their families, build wealth, and create opportunities. Members will have the opportunity to combine their resources and tailor the institution’s financial services to their needs. The African Diaspora Council Inc., a local organization dedicated to African culture, has established the credit union.

Credit union board members said it will also offer financial literacy programs for adults and children, as well as low-interest loans for businesses and educational institutions. It will also offer basic lending services and savings services for its members, including auto and personal loans, share draft accounts, and share accounts.

Africans who do not speak English should be well catered to, as the employees of the credit union can speak over 20 major African languages. Rayo Animashaun, member of the board, said this makes the credit union stand out from any other financial institution in Missouri. Charles Bryson, chairperson of the board, added that another feature of the credit union is that its employees are culturally competent.

Pamphlet and brochure printing can be used to highlight the unique features and offerings of such a financial institution.
