The Population Health Institute of the University of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recently released its annual state rankings and designated St. Charles County as the healthiest county in the state of Missouri. The city of St. Ann is located in this county.
This is the tenth consecutive year that the county has led the rankings and was considered first for health factors and health outcomes out of all of the 115 counties in the state of Missouri.
Quality and length of life, premature death, low birthweight and poor physical or mental health days are included in health outcomes. Health factors include certain behaviors such as excessive drinking, physical inactivity, teen births, and adult smoking and obesity. Clinical care issues are also part of health factors and comprise access to preventable hospital stays, mammography screening, flu vaccinations, and primary care physicians and dentists.
Printing services can be used to create mailers and other materials that can be sent to residents to inform them of such recognitions.
St. Louis County was ranked number seven for health factors and number 18 for health outcomes. Compared to other counties in the state, Jefferson County was ranked number 44 for health factors and number 32 for health outcomes while Franklin County was ranked number 17 for health factors and number 55 for health outcomes.
