St. Ann grocery stores promotes food donation program

The St. Ann-based chain of discount grocery stores Save-A-Lot is holding its annual food donation program called Bags for a Brighter Holiday.

This program is designed to provide high-quality and much-needed food to local charities to help those in need during the holiday season. Pre-assembled bags of food are available for purchase by customers for $4.99 when they check out at a register. There are both brand name and private label food items in each bag which includes such items as canned beans, stuffing mix, pasta, and other staples for the pantry. The checkout aisles at such stores often use local printing services to create Flyers and other materials that can be displayed to encourage people to be philanthropic during this special time of the year.

Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Save-A-Lot, Tim Schroder, said that we are still reminded of the challenges many face across the country and it is important now to give back to those in need throughout the community. He added that the Bags for a Brighter Holiday program encourages shoppers at their stores to help make an impact on both families and kids in the community with their support of No Kid Hungry. He said that Save-A-Lot will be matching bag donations made through its programs.

This program is running throughout the month until Tuesday, November 30.
