Residents of St. Ann are getting ready for the Rock Road Barbecue Battle. The two-day event brings together delicious smoked meat, stiff competition, and entertainment in one package.
The heart of the event is naturally the competition. Over $10,300 in prizes will be awarded to the top seven in each category: chicken, ribs, pork shoulder, and beef brisket. The top three in each category will also receive a trophy. Additionally, the grand champion of the tournament over all the categories will receive a prize of $1,700 and a trophy, and the second place overall will receive $1,200 and a trophy. To kick off the festivities, a small burger competition will also be held with small prizes for the top three entries.
The Flyers also promise a lot of entertainment for visitors to the competition. Admission comes with some tastings for the barbecue entered into the competition, but there will also be a beer garden where attendees can sip a brew or a glass of wine while they sample the entries. A 50/50 raffle will be held, as well as a washer tournament sponsored by BS Bar and Grill. Lastly, a cruise has been organized for all the bikes, cars, and trucks in St. Ann.
The Rock Road Barbecue battle will be held on September 9 and 10 at the Crossings at Northwest, located at 500 Northwest Plaza. Entry into the contest is either $200 or $250, and ticket prices have yet to be announced. Anyone interested in more information should visit the website.
