The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO), led by music director Stéphane Denève, is planning a weekend of concerts featuring the music of the most thrilling movies in Hollywood written by John Williams. Residents of St. Ann will want to attend these concerts that open the 2019-2020 season.
Major concerts such as this are often advertised throughout the area by means of flyer printing.
John Williams is known for his music written for some of the most well-known and popular films, including “Jaws,” “E.T. – The Extraterrestrial,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” The most memorable themes composed by Williams will be played along with music from films that are not as well-known, such as “The Book Thief” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.”
Also to be presented will be unpublished works from “Dracula” which the SLSO borrowed from Williams’ personal library specifically for these concerts. There will also be video clips of conversations between Williams and Denève that will present insights into the musical pieces.
The concerts will be held on Friday September 13 and Saturday September 14 at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday September 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Powell Hall in St. Louis.
