St. Ann, Missouri, is a St. Louis suburb lying sixteen miles from the city. The community was incorporated in 1948, but was developed six years earlier by Charles F. Vatterott, who started it to house defense-plant workers and their families. St. Ann's first commercial building was constructed in 1943, and the city has grown from these beginnings.
