The new printers use existing Oce technology, such as its controller system and DigiDot inkjet technology to provide energy efficiency along with speed. Print company managers will be able to adjust droplet sizes on these printer which use very little ink, making postprocessing far easier. Oce suggests that these printers have a good place in the digital book printing market where they can be part of a roll to roll configuration.
According to Sebastian Landesberger of Oce's Production Printing division:
"With these monochrome models of the Océ JetStream wide series, we’re building on our vast installed base of toner printers that we have put in place over the years in the book market. The new Océ JetStream mono series ... allows larger production runs of Books such as straightforward trade books to be produced at a competitive price. These kinds of jobs were until now the province of conventional printing."
