A new Bass Pro Shop will be opening in the St. Louis area in Sunset Hills at the corner of Watson Road and Lindbergh Boulevard. Residents of St. Ann looking for fishing, shooting, camping, boating, and other related gear may be interested in this new location.
General Manager of the store, Paul Cox, said he is looking to hire 130 full- and part-time employees. Among the benefits employees receive is a benefits package for qualified candidates and a discount of 50 percent on merchandise in the store. Some of these new employees may also require business card printing services.
Mayor Pat Fribis said that once the store opens, it will generate as much as $500,000 in tax revenue for the city. He added that he is addressing concerns about bringing additional traffic to the area with a new entrance off Lindberg Boulevard and another off Watson Road, which will give shoppers alternatives to entering the parking lot.
Cox said that the store will have details that are more attuned to the region. He said there will game, fish and trophy mounts, as well as murals that are depictions of scenes in the area. There will also be an aquarium stocked with native fish.
The Bass Pro Shop is expected to open in late April or early May.
