Mixed-use development breaks ground in St. Ann area

Ground has been broken on a new live, work, shop, and play experience in Creve Coeur. When completed, this may be of interest to residents of nearby St. Ann.

Olia Village will be on the west campus of Bayer. Bayer purchased the property from Monsanto, who occupied it for decades, and Bayer did not use it or need it for their company business.

Robert Hoffman, mayor of Creve Coeur, said that this project is significant for not only the city but for the entire area. He added that the property covers 96 acres, and the project will cost $1 billion to build. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents and neighboring communities of such significant developments.

The project supervisor for Jack Matthews Development, Matt Pfund, said that many changes needed to be made to the site, including new sewers and moving a lot of dirt. He added that private utilities fed the campus, and these will now be converted to public utilities

Sam Page, St. Louis County Executive, said that he saw the first development in the city, the 39 North Development, about 25 years ago so that this will be extremely exciting to see how this project comes into being over the next few years. He added that this is a “crown jewel” for the city.

It is expected that the project will take eight years to complete and begin opening in 2027.
