The Mid-County area will soon have plenty to please health-conscious cooks on the lookout for local produce, area farmers or gardeners with a need to sell some surplus, and craft vendors searching for a ready crowd of hands to browse their jewelry display and go home with one of their freshly printed digital Business Cards. All this is because the farmer’s market season has nearly arrived.
From St. Ann to Creve Coeur, there are several markets within easy driving distance. The Overland Farmers’ Market on Woodson Road will be open on Saturdays from May to October, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Weekly live music, special events, and prepared food vendors offer a large variety of produce and handcrafted goods.
The Ferguson Farmers’ Market will run from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturdays from May through October. Since its 2002 inception, the Ferguson market has won the American Farmland Trust’s #1 Farmers Market in Missouri award for 2010, the Best of St. Louis 2007, and the AgriMissouri 2005-06 Farmers Market of the Year award.
Clayton Farmers’ Market runs from May – November from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm on Saturdays. The market emphasizes organic and chemical-free foods and food-themed products, all locally grown and crafted.
Lastly, the Kirkwood’s Farmers’ Market opens its 37th season on April 5 and is open seven days a week.
