A new location of a Costco Business Center is being built in St. John at the I-170 Business Center Office Park.
Costco Business Centers differ from regular Costco Stores in that they cater to small businesses and stock more office supplies and food in bulk. This store may be of immense value to the small businesses in the nearby St. Ann area. There are 10 such Business Centers across the country, with others in Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Chicago.
The Business Center will be on 11 acres of land on St. John Industrial Drive. This was once a training center used prior to the opening of the Costco store in University City. The building spans close to 145,000 square feet and was built in 1949. Costco has previously renovated other big box stores to convert them into Business Centers.
Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such new projects throughout the community with Flyers and mailers.
Novak Construction Co., based in Chicago, is the contractor that will be converting the building into its new guise. Novak has built numerous Costco Wholesale stores throughout the South and Midwest and has collaborated with MG2, a global engineering and architecture firm based in Seattle, on these projects.
The construction of a Costco store typically has a turnover of 110 days, but an exact opening date has not been confirmed.
