Head of St. Ann police receives special award

The law firm Brown & Brown has given Scott Collett a prize of $500 and the Proud to Serve award for this year.

Collett has served the city of St. Ann as the commissioner of the Police Department. He also owns and operates a landscaping company and in his spare time volunteers for St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach – a charity whose mission is to provide sporting equipment for children of families in need. The organization provides new donated and lightly used equipment to children who may not be able to otherwise afford it.

In addition to these volunteer efforts, Commissioner Collett also hosts food and toy drives, and benefits for families in the St. Ann area. Poster printing is often used throughout a town and the neighboring communities to promote such drives and encourage donations from those in the region. He donates any overages in the items he receives to other communities and police departments outside of the St. Ann area.

A member of the community who nominated Collett for the award said that Collett, while running his own company and serving as police commissioner, selflessly helps run St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach and holds the charitable toy and food drives, ensuring that families in need in the St. Ann and surrounding communities can enjoy the holiday.
