Artists sought for visual art series in St. Ann area
The Cultural Arts Commission of the city of Maryland Heights is seeking artists from the area who may be interested in showcasing their work at the Government and Community Centers of Maryland Heights.
Young artists from nearby St. Ann may be interested in this opportunity to build their portfolio and experience.
Art will be displayed in the lobbies of the Government Community Centers during business hours. The goal of this art is to enhance the facilities by bringing a cultural and positive touch to these spaces and highlighting the creativity in the area.
Work submitted needs to be original, creative, and put together by the artist. It should be two-dimensional and framed. Artists whose work is to be exhibited will deliver, install, and remove their piece at the end of the exhibit. They are also responsible for promoting their displays. This can be done with the use of videos, participating in interviews with the press, and with photographs. Artists who want to drum up publicity for themselves often turn to local print shops and graphic design companies for flyers and other printed materials to use for promotion.
The deadline to apply is Friday, March 1. Those who are selected for the exhibit will be notified by Friday, March 15. Each display will run for about seven weeks.
