A call has been made by the city of Maryland Heights for an artist based in Missouri to transform a concrete wall 195 feet long at Aquaport, the outdoor water park in the city. This will likely be of interest to artists and art fans in nearby St. Ann.
The Maryland Heights Beautification Commission is sponsoring the project, and the Parks and Recreation Department will be implementing it. The budget for the project is $8.000 and will cover all costs for the project including materials, fabrication, shipping, installation, and artist fees.
The mural will be near the front of the park and serve as the backdrop of the Kiddie Pool area. It is designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the park and should help to create a playful and welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
All artists or teams of artists who are 18 years of age and older can apply. The artist needs to be a legal resident of the United States living in Missouri. Staff from the city and the Beautification Commission will review all the applications and finalists will be selected based on strength of past work; artistic and technical merit; and demonstrated understanding of the project.
The word can be spread about such projects throughout a state with the help of local Print shops with Flyers, Posters, and other printed materials.
The deadline to apply is Sunday March 2 and the project needs to be completed by Sunday May 4.
