Columbia invited to HAM it up during CMRA Field Day

HAM radio is a hobby that draws on a variety of fields, including computers, communication and electronics. Columbia residents who have always wanted to learn more about this pastime should make time for a June event.

The Central Missouri Radio Association (CMRA) has organized its annual Field Day for 2019. The attendees can try out the equipment, ask questions, and meet others who have an interest in HAM radio, and this is all being offered free of charge.

The group will have a display set up in Rock Bridge State Park located adjacent to the Log Cabin, and will be joining thousands of other HAM radio enthusiasts from both the United States and Canada. A picnic has also been planned, and the public will have an opportunity to find out the important role CMRA members can play in an emergency situation, both before and after a disaster has taken place.

June 22 and 23 have been set as the dates for this year’s CMRA Field Day, and though everyone is welcome, they are asked to sign up ahead of time. Pamphlets that provide more information about HAM radio and how someone can get involved in the hobby can be prepared by a brochure printing company, and these can be given to those who participate in this sort of community function.

Rock Bridge State Park can be found at 5901 South Highway 13 in Columbia. Registration for the activity can be completed through its online listing.
