Start time changes for Princeton Schools this fall

The Princeton School District’s Start Time Task Force recommended a change in the schools start times for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, which has received the approval of the Princeton School Board.

The Task Force was put together by the principal of the Princeton Primary School; Middle School’s future principal, Sarah Marxhausen; Superintendent Ben Barton and the school board.

The Task Force they put together was made up of multiple community members for the purpose of researching and developing potential solutions to the school’s start times.

Schools have multiple uses for printing services, including student handbooks, Yearbooks and customized Stationery items.

A short-term solution was arrived at via research and discussions concerning afterschool activities, transportation issues and student sleep needs, among other factors.

Recommendations for a short-term solution that would address the most pressing issue of students, which was to move start time forward by 15 minutes, were sent to the school board.

The new schedules will be: 7:30 am – 1:45 pm for the primary and intermediate schools, 8:35 am – 3:15 pm for the middle school, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm for the high school, and 7:45 am – 2:35 pm for the Student Services.

A three-tiered busing system that would be a long-term solution was recommended. However, such a system that would permit shorter bus routes will need to be worked out with Palmer Bus Service to determine whether it is feasible.
