The Minnesota Senior Games are coming to St. Cloud next month for four days. The event is presented by the St. Cloud Sports Commission.
The games are open to seniors from all over the country, and not just those who reside in Minnesota. Competition is for those between the ages of 50 and 89 and is divided into five-year age categories. Medals are given to those who finish first, second, and third in their division. Winners also qualify for the National Senior Games to be held next year. The deadline to register is May 2. Fees are $45 for the first five events and $5 for each extra one. Some games require extra fees such as golf ($35) and archery ($9).
There are over 20 games and sports represented. They include archery, cycling, disc golf, track and field, cribbage, softball, and swimming. No previous experience is necessary to play.
Sponsors will also be provided with exhibition booths at various locations. Sponsorships are available from $1,000 to $10,000.
