Art co-op sets the stage for performances

Individuals who have a love story have a chance to tell their tale.

Early next month, the Central Minnesota Art Co-op (CMAC) in downtown Princeton is planning to debut a new open-mic stage.

During the grand opening event, ‘Loveless Tales and Poetry from the Broken Heart’, attendees can share their stories of love and heartbreak on the new stage. There will also be stories from performers in the area.

CMAC aims to provide those in the community with access to view, practice, display, and sell art. By giving them materials and a spot to work, the nonprofit organization supports both novice and seasoned artists.

In 2015, along with the new stage, the co-op is planning to make new art studios. Recently, a metalworking art area was created and a classroom for teaching art is also in the works. Other improvements include moveable walls in the display area.

With these projects in the works, executive director Wendy Bursch has said that she believes 2015 with put the co-op “on the map”. To promote the co-op and the grand opening, event organizers may use a postcard printing service to create a direct mailer to send out to Princeton locals.

The unveiling of the stage is set for February 8 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. The art co-op is located at 108 6th Avenue South.
