The Great Northern celebration to return to New Brighton area

The Great Northern event will be returning to the New Brighton area later this month.

This Minneapolis traditional celebration of winter through arts, outdoor activities, food, drink, and exploration of our changing climate is scheduled to be explored through the medium of panels, conversations, and podcasts.

The opening evening will launch with the Chill Out: The Great Northern Launch Party, taking place at Surly Brewing & O’Shaughnessy Distillery.

From January 19 through February 4, 60 to 90-minute steam sessions will be available for purchase daily at the Great Northern Sauna Village. There, local sauna businesses will be passing out Business Cards and answering questions.

Other events will include a play called The Nosebleed at the McGuire Theater, a violin and composer concert at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and an Ice Bar in Downtown Minneapolis. Seven Stories will be a presentation at the Hotel Emery, a Climate Solutions Series can be found at the American Swedish Institute, and an outdoor nocturnal dance event will take place at Silver Lake.

Among many other activities, Frozen Foot golf snow sculpting will take place at Silverwood Park. A winter comedy roast will delight audiences at Parkway Theater, and a fine arts presentation will take place at the Textile Center.

The Great Northern event is scheduled to take place January 25 through February 4 in a variety of Minneapolis and Saint Paul venues. More information can be found on the event's online listing.
