Runners heading for Christmas-themed event

Many runners here in New Brighton will head over to the 36th annual Reindeer Run 5k, 10k and 15k early in December.

A Race Village will be located at the Lake Harriet Bandshell and will open at 7:00am on race day. The route will be based around the entirety of the lake.

Swag will include navy blue long-sleeve tec shirts sporting the event’s reindeer graphic design. These may be picked up at the Race Village before the race, and reindeer finisher medals.

First, second, and third place medals will be awarded in 14 age categories.

The event will not only bring in the holiday spirit with costumed runners, pictures with Rudolf and the Claus couple, but is also a fundraiser for Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army.

Runners are asked to bring new unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots to the help desk situated in the Race Village. The Salvation Army will serve free coffee and hot chocolate, and will have their kettle available for donations.

The toy drop, as well as the hot drinks, will be available starting at 7:15am on race day. The 10k and 15k runs will begin at 7:30am, followed by the Kids’ K at 9:10 am. The 5k starts at 9:30am, and unofficial results for all races will be posted at 1:00pm.

The Reindeer Run will take place Saturday, December 9th, at Lake Harriet Minneapolis.
