This summer, New Brighton Parks and Recreation will be offering two special event series.
Park Discovery Days will be a series of drop-in events for all-ages. Every Thursday during the summer, a new program will be presented in a different park. The programs will include games, crafts, special guests and demonstrations.
The first program will be in the morning from 10 am to noon at Sunny Square Park June 11. That will be followed by a late afternoon on from 4 pm to 6 pm at Hidden Oaks Park on June 18th. A morning session will be at Meadow Wood Park on June 25th and Driftwood Park will have their afternoon one on July 9th. Innsburck Park will be July 16th in the morning while Brightside Park will have its program July 23rd in the afternoon.
The series will end with Vermont Park's morning session on July 30th and Totem Pole Park's afternoon session on August 13th.
Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the free outdoor concerts at Veterans Park from 6 pm to 8 pm. On June 13th Retro Soul and the Westside Horns with Big Mike will perform, with the Tuxedo Band taking the stage on July 11th. Matt Yetter will be on August 8th and Russell Schmidt Trio will end the season on September 6th.
