Free once-a-month summer outdoor concerts are currently in the area thanks to the New Brighton Lions Club.
After the Kathy Vernon Duo got the second Friday part of the series underway earlier this month, June 13 will see Retro Soul & the Westside Horns with Big Mike take the stage playing R&B, ‘60s and ‘70s rock and roll, and blues. The Tuxedo Band will play on July 11, bringing golden oldies from the 1950s to the 2000s. Matt Yetter will be performing on August 8th playing old-time country and classic slide guitar blues, and the Russell Schmidt Trio will end the Friday series on September 1 with tributes to John Denver, Jackson Brown, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, and Dan Fogelberg.
The Summer Concert Series has also added a Thursday evening component with Retro Soul & Westside Horns featuring Big Mike on June 12, Los Rebeldes playing country rock and Tex-Mex Conjunto on July 10, and Analog Drifters playing blues and original country and classic rock on August 14.
Bands that have played together as long as many of these have often go to local Print shops to have experts update their merchandise with logo or graphic design elements.
Attendees are asked to bring their own blankets and chairs, and carpooling and walking are encouraged as parking will be limited.
All concerts will run from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Veterans Park, 803 Old Highway 8. Get a Free Quote for Print
