New Brighton heads to Luminary Loppet

Many New Brighton folks who love the outdoors will be on their way to the Luminary Loppet in early February.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a loppet is long-distance cross skiing on trails. However, the Luminary Loppet will be an evening walk around the lake on a well-groomed trail dotted with ice features and lit by more than 1,200 luminaries (small lanterns). If the weather cooperates, the surrounding trails will be open for skiers.

Along the trail, walkers may stop and enjoy s'mores, hot cocoa, and other refreshments. The party at the end of the trail will feature an outdoor concert, music, dancing, fire pits, photo booths, food trucks, and beer provided by Utepils Brewing. There will also be prizes, giveaways, and sweepstakes. Loppet merchandise will be available for purchase at the after party.

Event organizers often have their merchandise printed and will seek out Logo Design or Graphic Design Services from local Print shops.

There will be six start waves - one leaving the starting area every half-hour beginning at 6:00 pm.
Tickets will be $30 for adults and $15 for children ages four to sixteen. Proceeds from this event will go to Loppet Foundation programs.

The Luminary Loppet will take place Saturday, February 8 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Lake of the Isles, Minneapolis.
