New Brighton area goes to photojournalism conference

Folks in New Brighton will be attending The University of Minnesota, East Bank's Northern Exposure 2025 in early April.

This event will allow photojournalism students and those interested in discussing and sharing it to meet and learn from each other. Guest speakers will include Annie Griffiths from National Geographic, journalist trauma expert Lisa Krantz, and Getty photographer Chip Somodevilla.

The Friday morning's schedule will be student focused, while the afternoon will be geared to everyone. From 9:00 am to noon there will be a variety of photographers and photojournalism professionals giving quick job overviews in Room 130. Topics for the afternoon session will include double exposure, a photo walk, publishing a photo book, video storytelling, and a new documentary overview.

A networking and social will be from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Stub and Herbs, 227 SE Oak Street. Professionals who attend events like this usually bring plenty of Business Cards.

Saturday's activities will start with vendors at 8:00 am and a light breakfast beginning at 8:30 am. Workshops will begin at 11:00 am. After a lunch break of an hour and a half, workshops and portfolio reviews will run until another social break at 3:30 pm. The last keynote presentation will be at 4:00 pm.

Northern Exposure 2025 will take place in Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Murphy Hall, 206 Church Street, Minneapolis on April 4 and 5.
