Twin Cities to run into the holidays

Many runners here in Minneapolis will be lacing their shoes, donning their holiday attire, and heading over to the 40th Jingle Bell Run Twin Cities shortly.

This is the Arthritis Foundation's signature holiday run, and it is coming in late November. Registration for the Jingle Bell 5k Run/Walk will be $35. Participants are asked to recruit friends and family to join them in the run and to raise money. Creating teams is also encouraged.

Proceeds from the run will help raise awareness of arthritis, generate funds for treatment, and research and find a cure for arthritis through the Arthritis Foundation.

Race participants will receive festive colorful long-sleeve shirts featuring the Jingle Bell Run graphic design, medals, and race bibs at the event on race day. Other prizes will be awarded for fundraising efforts.

The indoor running experience will include ending on the 50-yard line on the Minnesota Vikings football field, along with backstage access and a locker room tour.

The 5k will take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium, 401 Chicago Avenue, starting at 10:00 am and ending around noon on Sunday, November 24. The race will take place in snow, rain, or shine.

An after-party will begin at Day Block Brewing, 1105 W Washington Avenue after the race and will end around 8:00 pm. Guests may enjoy goodies and beverages, and can watch the Viking and Bears game on the big screen.
