Twin Cities marathon weekend set for fall

This year, the 39th Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend will take place in early October. The two-day event will feature a 5k, 10k, and Marathon.

On Saturday, the TC5K course will begin and finish at the State Capital Grounds, 75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, St. Paul and will take the runners through St. Paul’s historic district. The after-party will consist of drinks, food and family fun. This race will begin at 8:00 am.

Swag includes finisher medals, participant gifts, and short-sleeve technical shirts sporting the event’s graphic design.

Medtronic TC Family fun will begin at 9:00 am. Along with entertainment, music and an activity tent, the event will include diaper dash, toddler trot, half-mile, and Family mile distances.

The next morning starting at 6:30 am, the Medtronic TC 10 Mile starts in Downtown Minneapolis and ends at the State Capital Grounds. The route will follow seven miles of the marathon course. Swag for both the 10k and marathon will be the same as for the 5k. Entries to this race will be determined in an online drawing.

The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon will follow at 7:30 am. Over 300,000 screaming St. Paul and Minneapolis spectators are expected to line the rivers, lakes, parkways and boulevards as first-time runners to professional marathoners race the 26.2-mile course.
