Trio of events added to Winter Carnival

Three new events – an ice fishing tournament, a run/walk, and scavenger hunts – have been added to this year’s Saint Paul’s Winter Carnival.

The Ice Fishing Tournament will welcome Minnesota Anglers to a month-long event through the FishDonkey mobile app, which will be available from January 1 to January 30. Prizes will go to longest walleye, northern pike, bass, crappie, sunfish, and perch. Other prizes will be awarded in the Grand Slam of Panfish category. The entries here will be the total length of one perch, one sunfish, and one crappie.

The Fire and Ice Run will offer a 10k, 5k, and half marathon on Sunday, January 30 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, 1265 Snelling Avenue N, Saint Paul.

Swag will include long-sleeved shirts with the event’s graphic design, race Mugs with the event’s Logo Design, and a St. Paul Winer Carnival coupon book and button.

Registration is $50 until January 22, when it goes up by $10, and $20 for the Kids’ Run.

Other new events will be the Saint Paul Scavenger Hunts from Monday, January 31st until February 6, where four hunts will available. The North Wind Hunt will have 30 clues taking Minneapolis participants to 30 St. Paul locations. The West Wind Hunt at Como Park is for children. Sound Wind Hunt will be a bar hop, and the East Wind will have hunters solving puzzles as they are led from location to location.
