Many here in Minneapolis will be heading for The Minnesota State Fair, starting at the end of this month.
Animals will be on display including 15 breeds of horses that will be found in the barn and at shows in the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum. Other animals will include sheep, goats, cattle, poultry, rabbits, swine, alpacas, llamas, and household pets.
Among the 40 or more new food items available for purchase will be bacon-wrapped waffle dog, basil hummus with walnut topping, bee sting sundae, birthday cake mini donuts, and cloud coolers. There are 27 new attractions this year, including A Sweet and Selfie Experience, a sensory-friendly morning at Kidway and the Mighty Midway.
Finalists for the 50th annual Amateur Contest will be at the Grandstand on September 3 with the contest beginning at 7:30 pm. Admission will be free. Over 50 citizenship candidates will be taking the Oath of Allegiance in Naturalization Ceremonies on Monday, August 28, and Wednesday, August 30 at 9:00 am at the International Bazaar Stage.
Among the performers lined up for the Grand Stand will be The Black Keys, The Chicks, Keith Urban, Boyz II Men with Chaka Khan, Brandi Carlile with Wynonna Judd, and Jung Gravy. Fairgoers often buy merchandise sporting the event’s graphic design beforehand on events’ websites.
Minnesota State Fair will run from August 24 through September 4 at 1265 Snelling Avenue, St. Paul.
