Two events taking place in Minneapolis next month with support different causes.
Minneapolis non-profit Hood and Ladder Theater is presenting its 4th annual Morel Feast spring fundraiser in early June. Local chefs from around the twin cities will be preparing eclectic dishes from the state’s fungus – the morel.
Mill City Hot Club will provide the entertainment, and complementary wine and craft beers will be available.
Snacks including morel sausage bites, French bread and cheese, and complimentary beverages will begin at 6:00 pm. A dinner of watercress salad, asparagus spears wrapped in prosciutto, fried morels, cheese, and Amish rolls will be served at 7:00 pm.
The meal will also include morel bites such as mushroom powder sourdough bread, ravioli, mushroom ragu, steak and morel tocos, mini tarts and zabaione (an Italian egg-based dessert) prepared by the area’s chefs.
Morel Fest is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Hook and Ladder Theater, 3010 Minnehaha Avenue.
Also, the 2022 Slow Roll for Sickle Cell will be a leisurely bike ride through North Minneapolis scenic green spaces later in the month. Along with fundraising, the event is to make the community more aware of the disease and how patients can be supported through blood donations, education, advocacy, bone marrow registration, and financial Corporate Gifts. Bikes can be reserved, and a community lunch will follow the ride at Theodore Wirth Trailhead.
The ride will take place Saturday, June 18 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Trailhead, 1221 Theodore Wirth Parkway.
