The 25th Annual Minneapolis Print & Drawing Fair coming in early October will give local art enthusiasts the chance to add museum-standard fine art to their collections.
Art Forms will include etching, engraving, color woodcut, drawing, lithograph, drypoint, and screenprint.
The free two-day event will have about a dozen print publishers and top dealers from all over Europe and the US setting up mini-galleries with an array of drawings and prints for sale. Prints will be from old masters such as Picasso, Cassatt, and Rembrandt up to contemporary artists. The collections will also include Japanese prints. Participating dealers will include Flowers Gallery, Mireille Mosier LTD, C.G. Boerner, Mary Ryan Gallery, Galerie Myrtis, Paulson Fontaine Press, and William P. Carl Fine Prints.
Curators will be on hand to answer any questions and discuss the prints. There will also be activities such as a hands-on poster printing experience, curator-led tours, and pop-up artist talks through-out the weekend.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Department of Prints & Drawings Acquisition and Educational Funds.
The fair will be October 6 and 7 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm in the Macmillan Atrium and Reception Hall, which is in the Target Wing on the third floor of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. The Minneapolis Institute of Art is at 2400 Third Avenue South Minneapolis.
A preview party is scheduled for October 5, in MIA’s Reception Hall starting at 5:30.
