Minnesota Fringe Festival goes online

The Annual Minnesota Fringe Festival that usually brings thousands of attendees and music artists to Minneapolis during the first couple of weeks in August has moved online.

The inaugural Minnesota Fringe 2020 Virtual Festival will feature both live and recorded events for free on hosting platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Zoom. Fans can buy $5 fringe buttons to see shows on Digital Hub. Artists will have the option of soliciting donations to get them through this non-performing time.

The free virtual events will be shown on Fringe Week on various platforms and will feature one to two Minnesota artists every night from July 30th to August 9th. These 30-minute performances will be one-time live streamed, and artists will do their own video streaming and hosting. Artists are selected by public voting. Voting is now open, and the public can vote until June 30th. Around 22 shows will be chosen and shown at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

During the same time, fans that have purchased the yellow, green and purple buttons sporting the event’s graphic design can view Digital Hub that will feature unlimited number of artists. These will be pre-recorded shows around 60 minutes long. All artists are invited to participate in this online section.

The event has a goal of $100,000 that will ensure that the event can return in 2021. Promotional Products such as Totes, Mugs and T-Shirts can also be purchased at the event website.
