Lights abound in Minneapolis during the holidays.
Holidazzle in Downtown Minneapolis at Loring Park, 1382 Willow Street will kick off November 29 and continue until December 22. Strolling through the downtown holiday lights and craft market, shoppers will be introduced to the new illuminated interactive Yeti art installation. Story times sessions, an expanded Kids’ Zone, performance deck, and performances at the pop-up ice skating rink are all new additions, along with the traditional fireworks, Santa visits, and eight holiday movies.
On Thursday, December 5, a Winter Light Show will be shown at the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering in the Civil Engineering Courtyard. Over 250,000 LED high-tech lights, in displays designed by the engineering and science students, will be accompanied by music composed and recorded by University students. The free light show will also be lit on December 6, 7, and 14 with viewings at 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm, and 6:30 pm.
Festival of Lights will be a tour of local holiday lights on Thursday, December 19.The van will leave Bryant Square Park, 3101 Bryant Ave., South Minneapolis at 5:00 pm and return around 9:00 pm. The trip will include a stop at a local coffee shop for guests to buy coffee or hot cocoa.
Many holiday revelers take pictures during these kinds of events. The photos are often taken to local Stationery printers to be made into note or Holiday Cards.
