The annual Aquatennial is coming soon. Some of the over 70 events that are being planned for over the week are milk carton boat races, beach volleyball, sandcastle building, a triathlon, and a tennis invitational.
The first night will have a blood drive, activities and lawn games at South Plaza in Hennepin County Government Center, Family Fun Night in Loring Park, the Life Time Torchlight 5K, and, of course the Target Fireworks display.
The second day will begin with a farmers’ market, and at noon there will be a piano performance on the South Plaza. A Family Fun Fest will be held at JB Hudson Jewelers. That evening will be the Twin Cities River Rats Aquatennial Water Ski Show.
Friday’s events will include Alchemy 365 at Aquatennial – a yoga, conditioning and strength class at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and Mpls bike racing at the Fulton Downtown Thunderdome.
Boom Island will have the Skyline Fest, which is a paddle sport race and canoe rides on Saturday. The fest will have a 5k open race, a 10k and a 200m Fastest Paddler. The site will also have yoga, a raffle, Board Demo zone, and food. Local merchants will be passing out Business Cards, Promotional Products, and merchandise.
Live music, food trucks, a kids’ zone and live music will precede the Target Fireworks at 10 pm on West River Parkway.
Aquatennial will be from July 18 through 21 in Downtown Minneapolis.
