The Minnesota Bluegrass Winter Weekend will be three days of bands, dances, informal jam sessions, instrument exhibitors and workshops. The event will take place in early March.
Two stages will feature over 40 bands. Nechville Stage in the main auditorium and the Willies American Guitar Stage in the Europa room will have bands performing Friday from 6:00 pm until midnight, Saturday from 10:30 am until 10:15 pm and Sunday from 9:45 am until 2:00 pm.
The Headline concert with traditional bluegrass musicians -Rafe and Clelia Stefanini, Tall Fiddler- Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, and string folk trio -Lady Spruce will start at 7:00 pm on Saturday evening on the Nechville Stage.
Exhibitor rooms will house vendors selling instruments, sheet music, equipment and many other bluegrass necessities. Visitors that see some things they particularly like often ask the vendors for Business Cards so they can get in touch with them after the event.
Sixteen workshops are being planned for Saturday. They will take place in the Dance Hall, in the Green Room and in Studios 3 and 2. Topics will include learning Missouri, French Canadian and northern Minnesota fiddle tunes, finding vocal harmonies, Clawhammer Banjo tuning, traditional Cajun, Bluegrass banjo and mandolin. Other workshops will discuss song choice, hillbilly music theory, bass, sting theory, clogging , and tips for becoming a better guitar player.
Bluegrass Winter Weekend will be March 6th through the 8th at 3131 Campus Drive, Plymouth at Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West.
