Local artists to put their work on show
Many artists here in Minneapolis will be part of the 2024 LoLa (League of Longfellow Artists) Art Crawl coming for two days at the end of September.
Small indie businesses and artists will be out in their gardens and inside their homes in the Longfellow neighborhood, putting out the welcome mat for guests enjoying the self-guided art tours.
The tour will offer art in 16 genres. In total, 40 artists will be selling and showcasing their paintings, 21 in both the mixed media and jewelry genres, 16 in clay, 14 in fiber, and 13 in drawing. Other artists will be selling book arts (marbled paper, writing journals, illustrations, and handbound books), metal, glass, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, and wood (pyrography, furniture, and wooden jack-o-lanterns).
Nine artists will be showcasing and selling recycled items such as plastic housewares, fabric scrap collages, bags, fanny packs, repurposed jewelry and clothing, and art from upcycled materials like cloth dolls, pillows, postcards, and quilts.
Other artists will be showcasing work that does not fit any of these genres, including Native American beadwork, hand-cut black paper art, fresh flower arrangements, chainmail jewelry, and digital mandala prints.
Artists that sell their work at events such as this often have special business cards printed that reflect their particular style. Maps locating the participating artists are available on the event's website.
The 2024 LoLa Art Crawl will be from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on September 21 and 22. Admission will be free.
