Norway House, 913 E. Franklin Avenue, will be opening its Gingerbread Wonderland 2020 Gallery in early November.
First-time gingerbread bakers, local families, cake experts and bakeries have been sending in their ideas. Once accepted, they will create Minneapolis-Saint Paul landmarks, buildings and other houses and items such as ornaments and cookies out of gingerbread.
All structures will be less than three feet in width and length, and at least 75% gingerbread. All of the items will be edible, except for the base board and lights.
Awards will be given for Most Creative, Best of Minnesota, Most Cozy, Best Amateur and Professional, Best Kid Entry 8 and under, and Best Kid Entry 9 to 16.
Guests may enjoy the exhibit both in-person or online. In-person appointments will be limited and are $10 for adults, and $5 for kids and seniors. All exhibit tours will be 45 minutes long, made online and be in small groups. Exhibit hours will be 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Mondays through Saturdays.
Starting December 6 the entire exhibit will go online. Although access with be free, the public is asked to donate to the event as this is a major fundraiser for Norway House.
Sponsors will get their Logo Design on all Gingerbread Wonderland advertising and social media platforms.
Gingerbread Wonderland in-person tours will begin November 6 with the 10:00 to 10:45 am tour and go until January 2, 2021 with the 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm timeslot.
