What's Happening in Minneapolis, MN…

Nokomis East Neighborhood Association will present South Minneapolis Green Fair in mid-April, in an event still happening at the time of writing.

Fair attendees will get information on how to create and maintain an environmental lifestyle through reducing landfills, taking a look at their carbon footprint, caring for local streams and lakes, and how to keep local animals and plants flourishing.

Over 30 environmental groups and businesses will be onsite offering green products and services. They will also be available for any questions or discussions on environmental issues.

From 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm, Ryan Siebold from Environmental Impact Studio and Tim Clemens from Ironwood Foraging Company will be giving a presentation on food forests. The pair will discuss how these benefit the community and environment, and show examples of projects thriving around the country.

At 1:30 pm, landscaping and garden expert Russ Henry will give a talk on how environmental enthusiasts can become “Backyard Heroes” by creating rain gardens, pollinator patches, and food forests in their own gardens and lawns.

Moving on to 2:30, Dustin Braun will take the stage to present “Landscaping for Health & Happiness.” Braun will discuss current food systems and landscapes and strategies to promote clean water, ecological integrity and personal health. Presenters at event such as this usually get business card printing done beforehand to have updated cards for interested fair attendees.

The South Minneapolis Green Fair will be April 18 from noon until 4:00 pm at Roosevelt High School, 4029 S. 28th Avenue.
