Bach Society holds anticipated Bach Christmas Oratorio

The 200 voices of the Minnesota Chorale, in collaboration with The Orchestra of the Bach Society of Minnesota, will be presenting Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, “Weihnachts-Oratorium” Cantata’s I, II, IV and VI in two performances in mid-December.

The performance will be led by Matthias Maute Artistic Director and Conductor of the Bach Society of Minnesota, and Kathy Saltzman Romey Artistic Director and Conductor of the Minnesota Chorale. Special soloists will be soprano Sarah Brailey, mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski, tenor Nicholas Chalmers, and baritone Alan Dunbar.

Six sponsorship levels are available. To help defray the cost of the venue rental, donors may opt to give $100, $200, $300 or $500. To sponsor the soprano, alto, tenor or bass sections of the choir, donors can contribute $365. Sponsors may also contribute to their favorite cantata for $500 or their favorite soloists for $650. Sponsorships to support the oratorio’s artistic directors will be $800. Donations need to be made as soon as possible so the sponsors’ names can be added to the programs before programs are sent to Print shops.

Regular tickets will be $35, and student tickets will be $5.

Performances of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio will be Friday, December 16 at 7:30 pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1079 Summit Avenue, St. Paul, and Saturday, December 17th at 7:30 pm at Westwood Lutheran Church, 9001 Cedar Lake Road, Minneapolis.
