Friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Art is presenting its annual Art in Bloom at the end of April. The free event is a celebration of flowers and art.
Exhibitions in the four-day event will be floral interpretations of over 100 items from the Mia’s permanent collection. Along with the floral fragrance and beauty, guests can experience demonstrations and lectures, and take docent-led tours.
A Preview Party is being planned for Wednesday, April 27 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Check-in will be in the Third Street Entrance Lower Lobby, and a pre-dinner reception in the General Mills Lobby will feature live entertainment, wine, cocktails, and a cash bar, along with hors d-oeuvres. Dinner will be served from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Jade Corridor.
On Thursday, April 28 at 11:00 am, Lisa Michaux, PhD will present a lecture on Flower Power: Floral Themes in the Pillsbury Auditorium. Then, on Saturday, April 30, starting at 1:00 pm, Bachman’s will present Live & In Bloom Floral Demonstrations. Arrangements will be sold via auction at the close of the event.
Pictures taken at floral events often find their way to local Stationery printers to be used on notecards and personal Stationery.
The Art in Bloom Family Event will be on May 1 beginning at 10:00 am, and will have storytelling, dancing, singing, and crafts for the children.
