The Minneapolis-St. Paul area will get to enjoy the outdoor winter here in Minnesota at the St. Paul Winter Carnival coming at the end January and beginning of February.
White Bear Mitsubishi will present a Drive-Thru Ice and Snow Sculpture Park. This will be a combination of the annual Snow Sculpture contest and the Ice Carving competition. Guests may vote for their favorite ice-sculpted masterpieces.
Passes include swag Bags from either Ecel Energy or UCare (containing Promotional Products and other goodies) and chances to win prizes by playing “I Spy Bingo” along the route. Tickets will be purchased for half-hour timeslots from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm on Mondays through Thursdays, noon to 10:00 pm on Fridays and 9:00 am to 10:00 Saturdays and Sundays.
An ice fishing tournament is taking place now until February 7th. Prizes will be awarded in largest King of Winter Walleye; Northern Pike; bass crappie, sunfish and perch; and Grand Slam of Panfish (crappie, perch and sunfish). Other categories include Winter Carnival Super Fan, Kids’ Fish, and Wild Card (longest of any other fish such as musky or sturgeon).
On both Saturdays during the festival, families can enjoy Virtual Family Days. The festival website, YouTube and Facebook page will present performances, arts and crafts ideas, story-telling and educational seminars.
Other activities include a puzzle contest, winter run along Lake Phalen Beach, and a softball tournament.
St. Paul Winter Festival is scheduled for January 28 through February 7.
