The annual event, presented by Story Arts of Minnesota, brings together storytellers of all ages for resource tables and activities, workshops, skill building and more. There will also be showcases presented by community members, performances and opportunities for people to sharpen their abilities as storytellers.
For those really itching to spin their yarn, StoryFest 2025 will also offer plenty of opportunities for people to tell stories. That includes in five morning 10-minute spots for youth and family, 12 daytime 10-minute spots and six 15-minute spots in the evening for adult stories. Organizers said they hope the variety of opportunities will bring community members who:
“demonstrate a range of storytelling and performance styles.”
People who are just getting started in the art of storytelling will have opportunities to learn the foundations. That includes planned in-person workshops for genres including poetry, intergenerational storytelling, improvisation, newcomers to the artform, storytelling for businesses, honing in on advanced techniques and turning a story into a picture book.
Writers and other creative types who attend community festivals like these may want to use printing services to make physical Copies of their work.
StoryFest 2025 is happening on April 5 at the Bloomington Center for the Arts at 1800 W Old Shakopee Rd. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and it is completely free to attend.
