The Jimmys are bringing their unique sound to Bloomington with a concert this July.
Combining elements of R&B, roots rock, blues and funk, The Jimmys are a 6-piece ensemble band who have toured worldwide, including in various U.S. cities, Europe and the Caribbean.
Jimmy Voegeli, a keyboardist and organ player, leads the band, with support from guitarist and vocalist Perry Weber, drummer Chris Sandoval, bassist John Wartenweiler, trombonist Joe Goltz and saxophonist Pete Ross.
When he’s not tickling the ivories with his band, Voegeli oversees his family’s multi-generational dairy farm on 1,500 acres of land. He grew up in a musical family, though he initially struggled through formal piano and trumpet lessons.
Known for danceable songs, The Jimmys won Blues Band of the Year in 2025 by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry. Their fourth and latest album, Gotta Have It, was released in 2019.
The concert at Normandale Lake Bandshell, a grassy amphitheater with no assigned seating, is part of a series of free performances featuring food carts and beverages for sale.
People are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs.
Performances like this may choose to use flyer printing to create venue Signs and low-cost promotional material in the community.
The Jimmys are playing as part of the Thursday Blockbuster Blues and BBQ series on July 30, 2026, at the Normandale Lake Bandshell at 5901 W 84th Street in Bloomington.
