The Mall of America in Bloomington will host an event called Pickleball With a Purpose this February.
The charity pickleball tournament, a first of its kind, aims to raise money for Every Meal, a non-profit organization that helps to feed hungry children through its Weekend Food Bag program. The event is made possible thanks to a sponsorship by Thivent and a partnership with Smash Park.
The tournament format begins with pool play before transitioning into single elimination, with each team guaranteed three games. Special paddles by PIKKL are the prizes for the winning teams.
Multiple tournament divisions are available, including Men’s Intermediate, Women’s Intermediate, and Mixed Intermediate. Each of these tournament divisions can contain a maximum of eight teams, with 24 teams making up the grand total.
The registration fee, 100% of which goes toward Every Meal, is $100 per team.
People who do not play pickleball are welcome to watch as spectators and donate separately to Every Meal via its website. There will be other on-site activities for those who are watching the tournament.
Athletic events like this may choose to use poster printing to designate team areas and to create equipment lists.
Pickleball With a Purpose is happening on February 28 from 8 am to 7 pm at the Huntington Bank Rotunda at the Mall of America at 2131 Lindau Lane in Bloomington.
