Arts festival returns to Bloomington

The Bloomington Street Arts Festival is returning this September at Nine Mile Brewing in Bloomington.

Now in its second year, the event brings together artists in a family-friendly atmosphere with activities like live music and interactive art pieces.

Photographers, artisans, crafters, muralists, pottery-makers, printmakers, designers and more will all be in attendance at the festival, as well as local community vendors.

The festival, supported in part by the City of Bloomington’s Office of Creative Placemaking, was designed to highlight the creativity amongst the South Metro community. It began as a grassroots effort but has since grown into an established community event.

There are over 25 vendors of visual art at the festival, including stained glass and ceramics artist Katie Ross, surrealist clothing designer Adrian Lowe, artisanal aromatherapy product-maker Gwen Plucar and tie dye clothing designer Smanatha Scholtes, among many others.

In terms of the activities at the festival, they include a sidewalk chalk contest, a community fiber-weaving installation, a pendulum painting activity, splatter art and an opportunity to customize sports gear.

Arts festivals like this may choose to use Stationery printing to showcase digital art or for promotional material and signage.

The Bloomington Street Arts Festival is happening on September 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Nine Mile Brewing at 9555 James Ave. S, Suite 290, in Bloomington.
