Bloomington teaches basics of ice fishing

For those who want to learn the Minnesota tradition of ice fishing, there are various opportunities coming up in Bloomington.

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Winter Fete Intro to Ice Fishing course will take place at Bush Lake. While there is a nominal fee for the course, this includes all the equipment provided that you would need and doesn’t require a fishing license.

Participants as young as 8 years old are allowed to sign up, though children must be accompanied by an adult. These courses are all part of this year’s Winter Fete, and is hosted by Bloomington Parks and Recreation.

The course will include a tutorial on how to use equipment, tips on locating fish in the winter, and reeling in any fish you might snag at Bush Lake.

Winter sports classes like these may require brochure printing to convey the course content to prospective students.

Ice fishing in Minnesota is considered by outdoor enthusiasts to be one of the most straightforward winter sports available and generally can be enjoyed by a wide range of skill levels. It involves drilling a hole in the ice at a body of water that has been frozen solid and then fishing through the hole.

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Winter Fete Intro to Ice Fishing course at Bush Lake Beach will be offered at $12.50 per person on the following dates: January 19-20; February 2, 9, 16 and 23; and on March 2.
